ElasticEngine Rubber Band Car Kit

In this kit, students blend creativity and engineering prowess using the engineering design process to design their own cars powered by rubber bands. They'll have access to everything they need from balsa wood pieces for the frame to straws for axles and reusable ABS wheels designed to fit the dowels provided! When cars are built, students' complete experiments and analyze variables to make their cars go even faster and farther. They'll calculate velocity and measure distance to change their design for iterative improvement. After students have tweaked their cars to satisfaction, hold a race to see whose car goes the farthest! Included lesson direction is adaptable to grades K-4 and 5-8 and details setup instructions, activities by grade level, learning objectives, and teaching suggestions to expand lessons.
