Students collaborate and use the Engineering Design Process to meet challenge objectives determined by the teacher. They can start by building a tower using just 2 pieces paper. Another project involves experimenting with load to see how much extra support items such as straws, pipe cleaners, and craft sticks provide when added to a bridge. They can also try building a house using cardboard, cardboard connectors, and a specific number of paper clips. Included lesson direction highlights some challenges to get students started as they test their civil engineering skills and details setup instructions, activities by grade level, learning objectives, and teaching suggestions to expand lessons. Ideal for up to 24 students working in groups of 6. Recommended for Middle School and up.
