Students embark on a collaborative journey to be the artists, writers, designers, and developers of their own 13-bit video games with Bloxels! It starts with an idea, as small groups brainstorm plots for a cowboy adventure or intergalactic mystery. Then they place physical blocks on a gameboard to draw out the scenery, characters, and art for their game.
With the Bloxels EDU app, they can snap a photo of the blocks to translate physical creations into endlessly customizable digital art—instantly change how elements look, interact, and behave within the app. Students have the power to create rich narratives filled with dynamic logic puzzles, creative dialogue, and transformative power-ups, then share their games privately using the Class Library.
Once students understand the basics, test them with Challenge Cards where teams race to create (sold separately)! A 32-page student workbook helps students or teams generate ideas, write a story, and plan out their game. A 48-page educator handbook provides ideas, guidance, and confidence to use Bloxels in the classroom.
